Great British Bake Off shows us how it can be done, but getting golden pastry on your pie can be tricky. Here, our very own Tesco baker Ian shows you how to get a crust that’s as good as gold every time.
Ian works with a team of 13 bakers in our Bedworth store, most of whom he's trained himself. His store bakery came 2nd in the Supermarket category of the National Baking Awards 2014. Ian’s favourite product to bake in store are the soft white rolls, in fact they make approximately 20,000 a week in Bedworth Extra, and provide the nearby Coventry Ricoh arena with all their rolls for matchdays / events etc.
In his spare time he is an accomplished Wheatsheaf loaf baker - it takes a whole day to bake and he does about 2 a year that he enters into competitions, or just bakes for friends and family on special occasions.
