Christchurch Recycling (

Описание: We're on my home turf in this video, which I filmed on a pretty gloomy Saturday just after the New Year had rolled through, featuring Christchurch's #01 moving through the last few yellow bins on the run before calling it a day. There isn't anything too exciting about these clips, however, I'm sure everyone can appreciate the fairly swift operating shown off by the driver.

Way back in 2015, seven of these 29m units were imported by Waste Management to take over the collection of recycling from their raptor predecessors. Being the first of the second-generation fleet, these trucks ran for just under a year before the majority of remaining raptors were retired from Christchurch work and replaced by trucks similar to that featured here; still to this day many of the previous fleet still get around as spares and full-timers all across the country. Nowadays, given Christchurch has expanded since these trucks started out, you'll find a few extra Bucher units, sourced in 2017, and also done up in yellow run to handle the recycling, one of which (#52) features briefly in the background of this video.

To match the brightly coloured bodies is some pretty eye-catching signage, with there being a couple different variations each featuring separate items that correspond with the trucks stream. While I don't mind these designs, in my mind nothing can beat the original signage on the 2009 fleet, of which little still remains. #01 was the first unit I ran into way back in the winter of 2015 when they were brand new, and in the time that has passed this truck seems to have held up pretty well in comparison to some of the others running around the city.
