Описание: Peace is so much more complex than simply the conditions around us. It's mostly a condition of our heart — whether we have peace or unrest. This morning we're looking at Romans 5. A foundation we can stand on. A place our hearts can rest.

1. MADE FOR PEACE

All of us were created and designed for peace. When we look back at the very beginning, we see how God designed everything to live in harmony — with creation, with each other, with Him.

God designed us for shalom. Shalom is a Hebrew word that means peace, but it's more than the absence of conflict. It signifies completeness, soundness, welfare, safety, tranquility — a deep harmony and well-being in relationships with others and with God. That's how God created us to be.

We were made to live in the palace with God as His children. Full access. No barriers. The lion and the lamb together. We're promised that day is coming again. Adam and Eve had that shalom — complete harmony. My wife often says that about me. Why are you guys laughing?

2. OUR CHAOS

Sin doesn't just break some of God's rules. It breaks the relationship — between us, between us and creation, ultimately it breaks us. Verse 10 says we were enemies of God. Not just strangers. Enemies. Hostile toward Him. Deserving of His wrath. If our hearts are not at peace, we cannot live at peace.
The world tries to tell us there are different ways to achieve peace. Just breathe deep. Meditate. Bike rides. More stuff. Self-help books. Vacations. Lottery. Retire early. But they are external solutions to an internal problem.

When Selah was born we had no idea she had Down syndrome. So many questions — God why? What does her future look like? What does this mean for her siblings? It was hard. One of the times I felt the least peace.

A couple days after coming home I was mowing. A neighbor stepped out and waved. I walked over and said Selah's born — and she has Down syndrome. His words rocked me — words some of us have probably said before.

He said, "You'll be fine. Your faith is strong enough."

That sounds good. But not really. The source of that is me. Do I have enough faith? I went back to mowing and those words kept rattling. Your faith is strong enough. I had to be honest — it's not. I started weeping. My faith is weak.

And then God reminded me: He's big enough to carry her. Same for all of us. It's not about your faith. It's about God. He's big enough. So if your faith is in Him? He IS strong enough. He will carry you through the chaos of this life.

3. THE PEACE JESUS MAKES

So let's look at how Jesus gets this right. True peace is the peace Jesus paid for. Jesus was killed for the hostility toward Him at the cross — one of the most hostile moments in all of human history. From religious leaders, the crowd, people close to Him — physical and emotional suffering. And He took that hostility on Himself. Why? So we could experience peace. All of that hostility was cast onto Him.

Tim Keller says the only person who dares wake a king at 3 a.m. for a glass of water is his child. That's the kind of access we have to the Father because of what Jesus did. But are we living like His kids or like... outsiders? Or even enemies?

He truly satisfies the deepest longings of our heart — not external things, not blessings because we behaved. It's a relationship with Him that satisfies our hearts in a way nothing else can. Verse 5 talks about the Holy Spirit He's given us, flooding our hearts. This isn't just a book. It's the living Word brought to life through the Holy Spirit. In ways nothing else can satisfy.

4. CHAOS DOESN'T GET THE FINAL SAY

God is more interested in making us like Jesus than making us comfortable. That junk we go through — it's not pointless. God will use it for His glory and ultimately for our good. When we realize what we've been saved from, the traffic jam, the bad boss, the frustrations of life suddenly become a lot smaller. Because they can't take away the peace we ultimately have.

Your past doesn't define you. Your failure doesn't crush you. Death doesn't scare you. When chaos invites you to the party… you can decline the invitation. Because you know whose you are.

The world stays chaotic. But as agents of reconciliation we can live with peace despite the chaos. Because through Jesus you are legally at peace with God. Have you placed your faith not in your faith… but in the One who can carry you through the storms of life? Are you living like a child of the King? Or still trying to earn your way? Prove your worth?
He already knows your worth. Your worth is what Jesus did for you. He came to do what we couldn't — live the perfect life, offer Himself as a sacrifice, so we don't have to earn our way. We can receive who we are as His children.

Don't let the chaos around you make you forget the glory that's coming. Be agents of reconciliation in a chaotic world. Because the peace that goes beyond understanding… is the peace that comes only from Jesus.
