Embracing My History At Caccamo's Sausage Festival, The Sagra Della Salsiccia, Sicily

Описание: Join me at the Sagra Della Salsiccia, or Sausage Festival, in Caccamo, Sicily—a vibrant celebration of the local wine, olive harvest, and of course, sausage-making! It’s like the harvest festivals we know in the U.S., but with that distinct Sicilian flavor.

In this episode, I get the honor of walking in the festival’s opening parade, dressed as a commoner to represent the "Lost Ones" of Sicily—those who were forced to leave their homeland due to economic hardship. As a descendant of Sicilian immigrants, it feels surreal to return and take part in such a meaningful tradition. I share my emotional reflections on this special moment.

After the parade, we visit the historic Caccamo Castle for a quick glimpse (with a full episode coming later). Then, it’s off to explore the festival streets, packed with delicious food like seafood, pastries, and of course, plenty of sausage. I also capture the lively dancing and festivities that carry on late into the night.
