Exploring the Black Plays Archive #4: random & Fallout

Описание: This week, Ola and Winsome discuss two extraordinary plays that gave new depth and perspective to difficult stories in the media. debbie tucker green's random highlights the devasting impact of knife crime, and Fallout by Roy Williams plays out a murder investigation splintered by racial tensions. Both plays were first staged at the Royal Court.

We feature photographs from the production of Fallout by Synergy Theatre Project, a 2009 collaboration with Irene Taylor Trust at HMP Brixton.

In celebration of Black History Month, this five-part series features a whole host of plays from the Black Plays Archive - from familiar contemporary productions, to acclaimed classics and hidden gems.

The National Theatre’s Black Plays Archive is an online record of the first professional production of every African, Caribbean, and Black British play produced in the UK. The archive continues to expand with your support - contributions and feedback about any plays or period are welcome. With a growing number of contextual resources such as interviews, essays, and newly recorded play extracts, the Black Plays Archive aims to build an accessible catalogue of these productions and to address the forgotten histories of black playwrights and practitioners in the UK.
