This is the feeling I had when I first put my hands on this incredible harp, an interpretation of King David’s legendary instrument, created by talented harpmaker Luis Martíns in Spain.

This harp gives me the impression that it decides what it wants to play, and that my fingers are just at the service of its magic. So I started improvising around the theme of “Noel Nouvelet” (a traditional French carol from the late 15th century), and I just let myself carried away by the tune’s Dorian harmonies which felt just right for this harp. The way the strings resonate sounds rich and bright at the same time, giving this instrument a mesmerising tone that’s perfect for medieval music. I wish the recording would give justice to its amazing sound, because in real life this instrument sounds even better than it looks!
