We stayed at the free camp at Midway Point, Sulphur Creek, Tasmania, just 3km from Penguin and right on the water. With stunning coastal views and easy access to the headland penguin boxes, this spot quickly became a favourite free camp on Tasmania’s North West Coast.
This video features two original songs that capture different sides of our stay. The first song reflects the calm coastal evenings at Midway Point — watching the ocean, waiting for little penguins, and enjoying the peaceful rhythm of free camp life. While we didn’t see the penguins come ashore, we were lucky to spot Tasmanian pademelons, adding a special wildlife moment to the night.
The second song follows our days exploring the region. We visited Guide Falls for a short walk, then headed to Emu Valley and Fern Glade, where a little platypus put on a show in the river. The adventure continued the next morning with the Burnie parkrun, where we made some new friends before packing up camp and rolling on to Forest, a budget camp near Stanley.
From quiet coastal sunsets to waterfalls, wildlife encounters, and friendly running communities, this Midway Point stop showed us just how much North West Tasmania has to offer.
