Описание: Nevada completed a $3.5 billion tunnel in 2015—the Third Straw—with an intake at elevation 860 feet, 35 feet below Hoover Dam's dead pool elevation of 895 feet, ensuring Nevada can pump water even when the reservoir functionally dies for other users. Lake Mead currently sits at 1,062 feet with Nevada's Intake No. 2 operating at 1,000 feet, but when the reservoir drops 62 more feet (projected late 2028), California's Metropolitan Water District loses access while Nevada seamlessly switches to the deeper intake. Arizona's Central Arizona Project intake sits at dead pool elevation (895 feet)—when Lake Mead reaches that level, Arizona gets nothing while Nevada continues drinking through infrastructure other states chose not to build.
