VR - Candlelight Procession - Lourdes 360

Описание: The candlelight or Marian procession takes place nightly from April to the end of October, and has existed at the sanctuary since 1872.

Every evening, once night has fallen on the town, thousands of pilgrims gather to walk and sing, flaming torch in hand, from the Grotto of Apparitions to the esplanade of the Rosary Basilica. At the head of the procession, a statue of the Virgin is carried by volunteers, followed by pilgrims and Malades in voitures, a rickshaw–like cart pulled by other pilgrims.

Participants carry a candle with its paper wind protector on which the traditional song of Lourdes is printed, recalling the story of the Apparitions. The focus of this procession is the rosary and all five decades are recited, usually in a variety of languages. The Lourdes Hymn is also sung, with verses in different languages.

The rain added a bit of a mystical feel to the spirit-filled candlelight vigil and to those braving the elements.

Whether one takes part or being a bystander, it is moving to witness this “magical” moment that brings people together from the four corners of the earth. It’s impossible not to be swept away by the power and beauty of all those flames, whose light spreads far beyond the sanctuary.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR VR VIEWING:

3. For smartphones: be sure to click the “Play in app” to get the best experience possible. This will allow you to use your phone to navigate while viewing
4. You can Zoom in or out, stop and go, at your pace
5. If you lose your bearing, look for the person with the camera (usually wearing a bright hat) to re-center the VR
6. Be patient. It takes a couple of minutes to get used to navigating thru the VR
7. If you’re using VR glasses, please be sure you are seated. Put the headset on and move your head around throughout the VR.
