I was promising my son for a long time to go fishing together. He is a complete beginner and I was ready to spend a couple of hours teaching him how to catch fish. So, we finally headed out to a lake withing the Gula Kortet fishing license close to Gothenburg. This was around the time when post spawn pike was actively feeding, but sometime later their activity can drop off completely. So, we went out to figure whether the pike is active and whether we can catch some nice pike.
The weather wasn’t ideal—it was quite sunny, which isn’t great for pike—but we decided to give it a shot anyway. My son used a perch rod with smaller lures, while I went with a heavier setup and larger lures, aiming for bigger pike.
As a result, my son caught his very first pike and ended up outfishing me!
