I explain the “U” symbol that is sometimes seen in profile feature control frame.
It is the “Unequally Disposed Symbol”, that can be used to make a profile tolerance unilateral or bilateral, unequally disposed.
I also show the previous method, using a phantom line to indicate that a profile applies in only one direction.
