BFR Training is derived from KAATSU Muscle Training, which came out of Japan in the early 1970's. The protocol involves restriction of the venous blood flow in order to cause a backflow of muscle waste product, which stimulates the growth (hypertrophy) of fast twitch fibers...the ones with the highest potential to grow!
