Sideways shrimping warm-ups can be tricky
But I think I've broken it down well in this video! It's free and part of my video playlist: Beginner Series for BJJ. There are 7 videos up including, how to shrimp, forward roll and slap the mat. The technical stand up and how to inverted roll is also covered in the playlist!
Follow these 3 steps:
1. Lift head off mat and motioning hands left to right (think rainbows). Do not slam elbows onto mat. Fight the urge to do so as it may result in injury!
2. Knees also move side to side in a rainbow-like motion.
3. Tighten core. Allow hips to lift and travel. Hips will only travel a few inches at a time if performed correctly.
Tip: Do not rush! Rushing can result in bad form/technique and thus, no movement.
