Lawsuit filed states SLC invites vagrancy, while homeless claims city is clearing camps

Описание: A new lawsuit accused Salt Lake City of creating a "crisis" surrounding homelessness, but an unsheltered man and a homeless advocate said the city is clearing camps and trashing belongings.

"We are headed to look like Portland, Seattle, San Francisco," said David Ibarra, one of nine people suing Salt Lake City Corporation, over its approach to the unsheltered. "This is the last resort. I don't know what to do."

Ibarra, a Salt Lake businessman, said heroin users are outside his building everyday shooting up on the sidewalk. He said he signed on to the suit "to bring some accountability to the leaders of our city."

The suit claimed "the city adopted a policy of inviting and fostering vagrancy, public camping, public urination, public defecation, and the public use of illegal drugs."
