Gambia has recently been gripped with spate protests against rising corruption, police brutality and poor service delivery. One young man who has been at the center of it is Alieu Bah, an unapologetic socialist who believes the country needs to undergo a socialist revolution, one that dismantles the current governance infrastructure– ‘a relic of colonialism’– and be replaced with a pro–poor, responsible government.
Gambia has never been this unequal. It has never been this poor. And some say it has also never been this corrupt. Yet, will we ask of those who wreck it to fix it? How will this socialist revolution come about? Bah talks to investigative journalist Mustapha K Darboe.
