When Authority Becomes Pride | Learning Humility Through Faith

Lately, I’ve had to confront something in myself — not arrogance exactly, but a subtle posture of authority. The need to have the answer. The need to clarify. The need to lead. The need to be right.
And through hard conversations with close friends and family, God has been using people to humble me before circumstances do.
In this video, I reflect on how scriptures like John 3:16, Mark 9:24 (“I believe, help my unbelief”), and Matthew 14 (Peter walking on water) have started to reshape the way I see leadership, humility, and faith.
I’m realizing:

Sometimes I correct when I should ask.
Sometimes I explain when I should listen.
Sometimes I prepare a rebuttal instead of being present.
Sometimes authority rises quickly… but humility has to be chosen.

Faith isn’t just about what we say about Jesus.

It’s about how we carry ourselves.
It’s about surrender.
It’s about recognizing when we’re starting to sink — not just crying out after we already have.

I’m still learning. Still repenting. Still growing.
And I’m grateful for the people and the Word of God that continue to correct me and guide me back.
