In this group of 3 videos we explore cooperative strategy and how the theories of competitive advantage can be used to generate insights that help us make better decisions regarding strategic alliances.
In this video we contrast ownership of business activity within the firm with the transaction costs incurred when buying in such function from the market. We then look at how different types of alliances may provide an alternative attractive option and how we might view an alliance from the perspective of the 4 views on competitive advantage we looked at earlier in this video series.
In the next two video we will drill into the dynamic capabilities organisations should look to put in place and then expand our focus from particular partnerships to network organisational forms.
