The A90 is, together with the M90 motorway, the most important road running up the east coast of Scotland, connecting many of Scotland's cities: Edinburgh, Dunfermline, Perth, Dundee and Aberdeen. The A90 itself is in two sections - one 9 mile/14km section from Edinburgh city centre to the M90 at Queensferry near the Forth Bridge, and a much longer 138 mile/221km stretch from the M90 at Perth to Dundee, Aberdeen and on to Fraserburgh. Most of the route has been upgraded to dual-carriageway, except for the northernmost section, and in Edinburgh city.
The section from Ellon to Peterhead to Fraserburgh is entirely single carriageway, with bypasses of Ellon and Peterhead as the only major improvements, other than straightening of a few bends. This section used to be classified as the A952 and A92.
This video shows a southbound journey along the A90 Ellon bypass, from the roundabout with the A948/A920 to the roundabout with the A9005.
