The A90 is, together with the M90 motorway, the most important road running up the east coast of Scotland, connecting many of Scotland's cities: Edinburgh, Dunfermline, Perth, Dundee and Aberdeen. The A90 itself is in two sections - one 9 mile/14km section from Edinburgh city centre to the M90 at Queensferry near the Forth Bridge, and a much longer 138 mile/221km stretch from the M90 at Perth to Dundee, Aberdeen and on to Fraserburgh. Most of the route has been upgraded to dual-carriageway, except for the northernmost section, and in Edinburgh city.
The section from the Blackdog junction at Aberdeen to Ellon was extensively upgraded to modern dual carriageway standard in 2018, with some new dualling, as well as improvements to junctions on the existing dualled sections.
This video shows a southbound journey along the A90, from the roundabout B9005 at Ellon, to the A975/B9000 junctions near Foveran.
