Tenby Walk: Town Centre【4K】

Описание: Located in the South Wales county of Pembrokeshire is the town of Tenby (or Dinbych-y-pysgod in Welsh, literally translating to 'fortlet of the fish').

Tenby's history goes back to the Norman Conquest when it was invaded around 1093. A castle and surrounding fortifications were built to defend against Welsh rebellion. It was only until Victorian times that the town became a holiday destination when people visited for the health benefits they believed the resort offered. The railways and shipping lanes of the Industrial Revolution aided in allowing access, causing a boom in tourism to Tenby.

The walk starts on Pier Hill where we head inland through the cobbled streets before returning to the coast and proceeding up Castle Hill. From here we can see St Catherine's Island, where St Catherine's Fort stands. This was built in the late 1800s to guard against the perceived threat of invasion by Emperor Napoleon III of France (nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte).

Tenby beach is very popular with holidaymakers, weather permitting!
