92 Squadron Settles Down In Lancashire

Coming up our last video of 2024 we are at The East Lancashire Railway to get the newest resident of the railway.

The Battle of Britain Locomotive Society's as built battle of britain bulleid pacific 34081 92 Squadron following the announcement earlier in December of a new partnership between the Lancs & the society.

This was the 1st we have got 34081 92 Squadron in action for the best part of 6 years since her appearance at The North Yorkshire Moors Railway's RAF 100 Steam Gala back in September 2018.

We capture 92 Squadron during the Saturday of the Festive timetable along with some non-stop running through Burrs during Christmas Eve the day before Christmas Day.

A much welcome & powerful loco to the ELR steam fleet which was much needed following Chris Beet's 45690 Leander's departure back in the spring of 2024.

We look forward to seeing 34081 92 Squadron allot more often during the remaining 2 years of her current 10 year boiler ticket before the ELR helps out on the loco's overhaul which is due to start in 2026.

It's fantastic to see this fine loco again after so long & now being a fellow shedmate to her West Country sister 34092 City of Wells which to most enthusiasts the ELR could be dubbed as The Southern Railway of the north.

Before we finish we have bonus footage as while getting 34081 92 Squadron on Christmas Eve.

On the same day we got to catch up with Andy Booth's rebuilt Austerity 2890 Douglas working The Santa Specials round the Burrs area.

We get 2 shots of him 1 at the platform & the other crossing over the bridge south of the station.

Note the rear 2 carriages on the back of both Douglas's & the bulleid's trains as they had carriages from West Coast Railways which were on hire to the railway due to shortage of suitible rolloing stock.
