The cost of eating in Switzerland as a tourist (1st Aug 2023).
Hotel meals are pretty good too. Hotel breakfast saves money if its inclusive. Just have to focus on lunch or dinner.
For authentic Swiss food restaurant is the best way for tourist. Fondue and rosti are so flavourful.
Restaurant are more expensive and supermarket hot food are pretty good. Migros and COOP are good options not just for fruits but sandwiches. Pay slightly more and you will have your Turkish fast food offering.
Smaller shops like Kabab wraps and doner are the in between. Affordable with fresh ingredients. Tasty & fast.
We ate in cafe, bistro, supermarket and restaurants.
For fruits we visited a farmer's market too just for the experience.
Don't forget the panorama scenic trains. It's definitely more expensive to eat on board meals as expected. It's an experience though.
In general Switzerland was a great holiday with good food and nice people. Unexpectedly lots of organic offerings. Our brief time in italy the meals was affordable.
It was an experience trying out new food in different towns.
