Norfolk & Western J-class 4-8-4 #611 "The Spirit of Roanoke" pulled her last excursions of the 2015 season during the July 4th weekend. Operating short half-day trips from Roanoke, she traveled east to Lynchburg over the Blue Ridge grade in the morning, and then headed west to Walton over the Christiansburg Mountain grade in the afternoon. With mostly overcast and rainy weather, #611 put on a spectacular show on the famous Norfolk & Western mainline.
