Spaghetti with Meatballs and Mushrooms
Ingredients:
For the Meatballs:
300g ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
1 egg
2 tbsp breadcrumbs
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tbsp chopped parsley
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp grated parmesan (optional)
For the Sauce:
200g mushrooms, sliced
1 small onion or shallot, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
250ml heavy cream (or crème fraîche)
1 tbsp olive oil or butter
Salt and pepper to taste
Grated parmesan (optional)
Pasta:
250g spaghetti
Salted water for boiling
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Meatballs:
Mix the ground meat with the egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper.
Form into small balls and set aside.
Brown the meatballs in a pan with a bit of oil until cooked through and golden. Remove and set aside.
2. Cook the Pasta:
Boil the spaghetti in salted water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
3. Make the Mushroom Cream Sauce:
In the same pan, add a bit more oil or butter if needed.
Sauté the onions until soft, then add the garlic.
Add the mushrooms and cook until browned.
Pour in the cream and stir. Let simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Combine Everything:
Add the meatballs back to the sauce and simmer for a few minutes.
Toss in the cooked spaghetti and mix to coat everything with the sauce.
Optionally, sprinkle with grated parmesan and fresh parsley before serving.
