In an unprecedented move, the Akal Takht ordered Sukhbir Singh Badal to be removed as president of the Shiromani Akali Dal and revoked the "Fakhr-e-Quam" title awarded to his father, Parkash Singh Badal, for their alleged wrongdoings against the Sikh community. Sukhbir Badal was also instructed to clean the toilets at the Golden Temple complex as part of his atonement.
