Grinding method for exp and Grit items:
Each cycle of my grinding method in Alabaster Icelands took around 5 minutes, and it’s self-sustaining in terms of money and crafting materials. The defeated Alpha Pokemon frequently drop various Grit items and Seeds of Mastery. Gigaton Ball crafting materials are gained by attacking crystals and trees on this route.
I threw Pinap Berries (boosts exp gain) to the Chanseys and Blisseys, and caught them with Gigaton Ball back-strikes while they ate the berry. After throwing a Ball, I would retreat to the nearest long grass and crouch still, in case they escape the ball. Then just have to wait a few seconds for their "alert" reaction to end, then try another berry and Ball. Also, try to throw the Berries away from nearby Ambipoms, as they’re aggressive and will disrupt catching attempts.
To conserve resources, I only levelled up Pokemon as much as I thought necessary to win their Solitude battle - and only used Grit items when it seemed necessary. When a Pokemon’s level is increasing past 70, it starts to become much more time-efficient to use Grit items to make battles winnable.
If a difficult Solitude battle seemed like it could be won by resetting for better RNG (crits, status effects, enemy misses and move choices), it often seemed much faster to reset several times rather than grind for more exp or Grit items. If the enemy Pokemon leads with a move that guarantees your loss, it’s worth resetting a few times to see if they’ll ever choose another move - the AI is often dumb/random, so it sometimes chose moves other than one that would defeat me.
Grinding route:
1. Check supply of Gigaton Balls, Pinap Berries and money. If low on those items, craft more of those balls and buy the berries in Jubilife Village. If low on money, sell Stardusts and Seeds of Mastery (I had over 100 Seeds most of the time). Money and Seeds are both needed for learning and mastering new moves, as many Path of Solitude battles are very difficult or nearly impossible without specific move-tutor moves.
2. Fill party of Pokemon with level 100 Arceus (Legend Plate) in the lead spot, and 5 Pokemon that need to level up. When any of those Pokemon reach around level 65-70, at the end of my grinding route I swap them out for the next ones. Around that level it seemed more efficient to use the many Exp Candies (L) that you get from this grinding method, for any further leveling required.
3. Go to Alabaster Icelands*, warp to Icepeak Arena. Fly northeast down to the Alpha Machamp - break the red crystal on the way, then KO Machamp with Arceus’ Judgement.
*Note: If there’s a Massive Mass Outbreak in the Icelands, this disrupts my grinding method - you can just enter and leave a location to reset outbreaks. At those times I used my 'Grinding for Grit Dust/Gravel' methods (described further below) in Obsidian Fieldlands and Cobalt Coastlands. You can also catch the Alpha Blissey in Obsidian Fieldlands for huge exp while it eats a Pinap Berry.
4. Fly southwest towards Avalanche Slopes, but first land in the small forest area just south of "Arena’s Approach" on the map. Break the red crystal next to the rock formation, then catch the Blissey that always spawns in that forest.
5. Get Apricorns from the tree on southwest edge of the Blissey forest. Then cross over the path (facing west) and break the black crystal for Black Tumblestones. There can sometimes be up to 2 Chanseys on the path around here: catch them.
6. Fly south (following the path) towards the cliff on the map’s west edge. On top of the cliff’s edge, break the crystal behind the rock formation for Black Tumblestones. Then fly south over this cliff area, looking down for Chanseys - up to 2 (or 3, I forgot) can spawn here. Catch them, then continue to the south edge of this cliff area: catch the Blissey there.
7. Break the crystal at the south edge of the cliff for Black Tumblestones, then fly south over the gap. In the map’s southwest corner, defeat Alpha Garchomp (guaranteed 1-hit KO with strong-style Judgement from Legend Plate Arceus). Then break the crystal at the south edge of this area.
8. Warp back to camp, release the caught Blisseys and Chanseys for Grit Pebbles and Grit Rocks. I ended up with an excess of these - but for Grit Dust and Grit Gravel, my supplies stayed low so I often had to visit other areas as noted below:
Grinding for Grit Dust: In Obsidian Fieldlands, catch and release Pokemon around level 10-20 - I went to The Heartwood area, including the beach. I used Poke Ball back-strikes on fleeing Pokemon such as Starly, and back-strikes on Bidoofs/Bibarels by walking right up to them and circling around.
Grinding for Grit Gravel: In Cobalt Coastlands, start from the first camp in daytime. Catch Glameows east of the camp - I threw Razz Berries (boosts catch rate) then did Poke Ball back-strikes while they ate. Then catch Spheals on the beach, using the same method. Then release the Glameows and Spheals.
