Triggerfish aspetto shot, visibility was poor but it came by me. SEAC Seamate buoy silent review.
Rough day, strong wind, and rain. I tried out the Seac Seamate dive buoy, a mini zodiac style float. It is extremely lightweight (1.5 kg), I could carry it clipped to my bag. It does not need any lead weight under the keel for stabilization. It has ample storage in the front, like for an underwater camera housing, spare mask, large water bottle, and so on. It is possible to strap a couple of spare spearguns above water. It has 3 PVC removable air chambers and strong polyester, that does not soak water like nylon.
The wind was opposite the incoming tide, there were strong rip currents and I could get on it and fin faster back to shore.
The line it comes with is useless, and I am using it with a 4-meter Salvimar bungee line with a Dyneema core that extends 4 times and has an 80kg load.
I used a slightly larger and taller flag from a different float.
I am so happy with this, and I should have bought it years ago. I could it on Amazon for $89, usually these cost $200+ in the USA, while in Europe they go for about €80 with more options.
I find it more visible in the waves compared to Omer Atoll and similar floats (like Cressi Spyder), that are very low flush with the waterline. I feel this is way more noticeable, and it allows me to swim faster against the current. Inflating it is quick.
Really great. Other brands like Beuchat, Opeka, Palantic, XS Scuba make versions with more rings or different materials like PVC or Nylon.
But this is sufficient from my use, and people left positive comments after using this for a couple of years on several European spearfishing internet groups.
I felt no drag with the bungee line, and it was a rough day.
