A PEACEFUL SAWTOOTH LAKE all to ourselves

Описание: Episode 2 of our Sawtooth series takes us to two mountain lakes. The first is Yellow Belly Lake, a giant blue oasis roughly 20 miles from Stanley. We'll follow the Yellow Belly trail, from the Yellow Belly trailhead, past Yellow Belly Lake (How many times can you name something Yellow Belly?) over to McDonald Lake, the final destination of our journey.

McDonald Lake is a much smaller body of water, framed by Parks and Imogene, two famous Sawtooth mountains. The real beauty of McDonald Lake is how easy it is to get to and how secluded it is. The lake borders the famous Alice-Toxaway loop, and the Tin Cup Trailhead that takes you to Alice Lake is right around the corner from the Yellow Belly Trailhead. Many visitors rush to those popular hikes and fail to find McDonald Lake. And those looking for a big lake with easy access set up at Pettit or Yellow Belly Lake. Seekers of solitude may think about this little know gem the next time their looking for an easy overnight trip in the Sawtooth Recreation Area.
