Aspiring Actuaries Mentoring is a global group mentoring programme for recent graduates taking their first steps into the actuarial profession.
More than 40 mentees were selected to join the 2023-24 programme. A truly international group, individuals hailed from Bahrain, China, Egypt, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Malawi, Nepal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, UK, Zambia & Zimbabwe.
The IFoA Foundation’s aims with group mentoring are to help beneficiaries to kickstart their actuarial careers by:
growing their confidence and
developing their skills for the workplace,
building their international community and network of peers, and
positioning themselves as leaders of the future, geared up to address the challenges of the future
Mentees take part in large interactive group sessions and smaller squad sessions led by professional mentors and actuaries. They also attend insightful ‘fireside chat’ webinars online to hear from diverse actuarial leaders and alumni from previous programmes.
Alumni from the pilot programme also get involved in the squad sessions, making connections across cohorts.
