On The Double - Winds of Change - James Rae

Описание: As multi-instrumental teacher at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire I commissioned the great James Rae to compose this piece and what a belter it is! Here is the first recording of it played by students at RBC. Feel free to get in touch should you have questions about studying there but for now, enjoy the performance!

Winds of Change is a multi-instrumental woodwind quartet playing all combinations of clarinets, saxophones and flutes in a variety of genres. We are made up of musicians from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire who all have a passion for musical theatre and woodwind doubling.

WoC Reed 1 Amy Hunt is a versatile saxophonist and woodwind doubler. A recent graduate from RBC, she performs in a range of styles including classical, jazz, folk, contemporary and musical theatre. She frequently collaborates with composers in performing new pieces of music and was part of the new musical ‘The First 8’, in concert.

WoC Reed 2 Katie Jordan is on her final year of the multi-instrumental course at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, she has played a wide variety of genres including: Jazz, Pop, Folk, Musical Theatre, and Classical, and loves to take every new opportunity in her stride. A highlight gig for her would be playing alto saxophone with Symphonic Ibiza where they head lined the music festival “Bands In The Sands” on Perranporth Beach, as Katie’s from Cornwall this made it even more special.

WoC Reed 3 “Talented, fun and high energy,” Jonathan gets great joy from being a versatile musician and has a special interest in musical theatre which has seen him focus on woodwind doubling. He is equally comfortable on flute, clarinet and saxophone, and has recently added the oboe to his arsenal.

WoC Reed 4 Helen is a versatile reeds player, recently graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She has performed as a soloist with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, NZ and was selected for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra’s training scheme this year. Recent highlights also include: the world premiere of new musical ‘The First 8’, ‘Urinetown’ with the RBC Acting Department and ‘Kiss Me, Kate’ with the National Youth Music Theatre.
