On 11/7/2024 Mass Coastal was put in charge of washing the new MBTA South Coast Rail Lines to Fall River and New Bedford, MA. To do this they borrowed one of the MBTA's wash trains, seen almost exclusively on MBTA's commuter rail lines (and on the Downeaster route). The wash train is used to wash slippery, wet leaves off the rails during fall to reduce wheel slip. This video follows MC 2009 and the wash train up and down the line to Fall River, MA. They also ran to New Bedford but I cut loose before that but stay tuned for more footage of the wash train soon!
