Описание:
Another very decent 10.6 mile walk from North Herts Ramblers Group. This one being a circular of Ayot Green, and selected for the cooling tree cover on a very humid day. As it transpired, the cover provided some useful protection from a later electrical storm.
Starting from a point next to the noisy A1(M), the initial walking was along field margins and shady wooded sections, and utilising an old rail line for a short distance. There's some cereal field crossings before reaching the former home of playwright George Bernard Shaw, in Ayot St Lawrence.
Just as lunch was being had at the redundant church there, the thunder arrived and the heavens opened.
Luckily, much of the walk for this period was under tree cover and by the time the walker reached the Lee Valley, the rain had stopped.
After this peasant section, it's across a golf course and back to the noisy A1(M).
A very enjoyable walk, in spite of the humidity and storm, and treading on a dead rabbit!
