The Dacia Bigster Hybrid-G 150 4x4 (2026) debuts a world-first drivetrain that fuses hybrid technology, bi-fuel petrol/LPG capability, and electric all-wheel drive into one cohesive system. Engineered to deliver genuine SUV versatility with markedly lower running costs and emissions, this powertrain represents a pivotal step for Dacia’s C-segment flagship.
The system pairs a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder 48V mild-hybrid petrol engine producing 140 hp on the front axle with a rear electric motor capable of delivering up to 31 hp on demand. Total combined output reaches 154 hp, with 230 Nm from the combustion engine and up to 87 Nm from the electric motor.
A 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with steering-wheel paddles manages the front powertrain. At the rear, the electric motor is linked to an innovative 2-speed gearbox that maximizes torque at low speeds while improving efficiency at higher speeds. This allows effective electric rear-axle drive up to 140 km/h. A neutral decoupling mode eliminates parasitic drag in 4x2 cruising for optimized consumption.
Energy is stored in a 0.84 kWh 48V Li-Ion battery, automatically recharged during deceleration and braking. In urban use, the Bigster Hybrid-G 150 4x4 can operate in electric mode for up to 60% of the time.
The bi-fuel configuration includes 50 litres of petrol and 50 litres of LPG, enabling a total driving range of up to 1,500 km (WLTP) without refuelling. Average consumption is rated at 7.1–7.2 l/100 km (LPG) and 5.5–5.6 l/100 km (petrol), with CO₂ emissions around 20 g/km lower than the previous mechanical 4x4 mild-hybrid solution. Operating costs can be reduced by up to 30% thanks to LPG usage.
The electric rear axle delivers instant torque when grip is lost, creating an AWD system that requires no traditional mechanical driveshaft.
