With the 2026 model year, Duster adopts one of the most technically original drivetrains seen in the compact SUV segment. Named hybrid-G 150 4x4, this new system combines LPG bi-fuel technology, 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance, a dual-clutch automatic transmission, and an electrified rear axle with a two-speed gearbox. The result is genuine all-wheel drive delivered without a mechanical connection between the front and rear axles.

This architecture debuts on Duster and Bigster and represents a world-first combination of efficiency, simplicity and real off-road capability — fully aligned with Duster’s long-standing reputation for traction and robustness on difficult terrain.

A New Type of AWD Architecture

At the front, Duster Hybrid-G 150 4x4 uses a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine supported by a 48V mild-hybrid system, delivering 103 kW (140 HP) and 230 Nm of torque to the front wheels through a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Gear changes can also be controlled manually via paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel — particularly useful in off-road situations, towing, or mountain driving.

At the rear, an electric motor capable of up to 23 kW (31 HP) and 87 Nm drives the rear axle through an innovative two-speed gearbox. This gearbox is the key element of the system:
• The first gear provides very high torque at low speed, ideal for mud, sand, climbs and obstacles.
• The second gear ensures efficient rear traction at higher speeds, allowing the rear axle to remain active up to 140 km/h.
• A neutral (decoupled) mode completely disconnects the rear drivetrain during 4x2 driving, eliminating internal friction losses and improving fuel efficiency.

The system is powered by a 48V Li-Ion battery of 0.84 kWh, which recharges automatically during deceleration and braking phases.

Bi-Fuel Efficiency and Exceptional Range

Duster continues Dacia’s Eco-G philosophy by integrating LPG capability into this hybrid AWD system:
• 50-litre petrol tank
• 50-litre LPG tank
• Up to 1,500 km total range (WLTP) without refuelling

This configuration reduces running costs by up to 30% compared with petrol use and lowers CO₂ emissions by 20 g/km compared with the previous mechanical 4x4 version.

WLTP consumption values:
• LPG: 7.1 – 7.2 L/100 km
• Petrol: 5.5 – 5.6 L/100 km

CO₂ emissions:
• LPG: 116 – 118 g/km
• Petrol: 124 – 126 g/km

Electric Intelligence for Real Traction

Unlike conventional AWD systems that rely on propshafts and transfer cases, Duster Hybrid-G 150 4x4 uses electric logic to manage rear traction:
• Instant rear torque when wheel slip is detected
• No physical connection between the axles
• Rear axle operates only when required
• Efficiency close to a 4x2 vehicle in normal driving conditions

In urban environments, the system can function up to 60% of the time in full electric mode, thanks to the rear motor and the 48V battery.

Six Dedicated Driving Modes

To maximize capability on all surfaces, Duster Hybrid-G 150 4x4 offers six terrain modes:
1. Auto – automatic switching between 4x2 and 4x4
2. Eco – prioritizes efficiency, AWD engages only when necessary
3. Snow – optimized for slippery roads
4. Mud / Sand – dedicated soft-terrain program
5. Lock – constant 4x4 at low speed for rough terrain
6. Hill Descent Control – controlled descent between 4 and 30 km/h

These modes, combined with the rear two-speed gearbox and paddle control, provide a level of adaptability rarely seen in this segment.
