The Popcorn, een dancing in België

Hoewel deze muzikale beweging het meest werd geassocieerd met de discotheek "The Popcorn", was de echte grondlegger Freddy Cousaert die in 1968 in de " The Groove" in Oostende begon met het draaien van uit de VS geïmporteerde soulmuziek. Het was genoeg voor enkele andere discotheken om deze rage te volgen. The Golden Gate,Versailles,The King's Pub, The Champou, The Gnoumfy,De Viertap,Dancepalace Forum en e.a
De meeste van deze platen waren niet in de handel verkrijgbaar waren, dit waren dan ook unieke stuks die mensen die van Popcorn oldies hielden er toe aan zette om nog meer naar Dancings te gaan waar deze muziek wed gespeeld. Ook aan de andere kant van het land in de Walen onstond er een echte rage.

Le Popcorn un dancing en Belgique

Bien que ce mouvement musical soit surtout associé à la discothèque "The Popcorn", le véritable fondateur était Freddy Cousaert qui a commencé à jouer de la musique soul importée des États-Unis en 1968 dans le "The Groove" à Ostende. Il n'en fallait pas plus pour que quelques autres discothèques suivent cet engouement. Le Golden Gate,Versailles,Le King's Pub,Le Champou,Le Gnoumfy,De Viertap,Dancepalace Forum et autres
La plupart de ces disques n'étaient pas disponibles dans le commerce, il s'agissait donc de pièces uniques qui encourageaient les amateurs de Popcorn oldies à aller encore plus dans les Dancings où cette musique était jouée. Il y avait aussi un véritable engouement à l'autre bout du pays chez les Wallons

The Popcorn, a Dancing in Belgium

Although this musical movement was most associated with the discotheque "The Popcorn", the real founder was Freddy Cousaert who started playing soul music imported from the US in 1968 in the "The Groove" in Ostend. It was enough for some other discotheques to follow this craze. The Golden Gate,Versailles,The King's Pub,The Champou,The Gnoumfy,De Viertap,Dancepalace Forum and others
Most of these records were not commercially available, so these were unique pieces that encouraged people who loved Popcorn oldies to go even more to Dancings where this music was played. There was also a real craze on the other side of the country in the Walloons.
