About Sita Samahit Temple
According to Indian mythology, Sitamarhi holds great importance as the place where Mata Sita was abandoned, gave birth to Luv and Kush, and finally returned to Mother Earth. On the banks of the Ganga lies the ancient Valmiki Ashram, where Maharishi Valmiki composed the Ramayana and raised Luv and Kush. For this reason, Sitamarhi is revered as a holy Teerth, alongside Prayagraj and Kashi.
The Sita Samahit Temple was later built at this sacred spot with the blessings of Mata Sita and the efforts of Late Shri Satya Narain Prakash Punj. The complex houses temples of Mata Sita and Lord Shiva, along with a majestic 108-ft Hanuman statue standing on a 20-ft rock, under which lies a cave temple of Hanumanji.
Today, thousands of devotees visit Sitamarhi with faith and reverence. It is one of the five main Teerths of Poorvanchal – Prayagraj, Sitamarhi, Sarnath, Vindhyavasini, and Kashiraj-that can be covered in a three-day pilgrimage. Every visit here brings peace, devotion, and the eternal blessings of Mata Sita.
