Hello and welcome back to our channel for our 50th episode! Our Northeast van life adventures continue this week with a visit to one of the most beautiful beach towns in the country before we head to Amish Country with its rolling hills and the clip clops of horse-drawn buggies past pristine farmlands. CAPE MAY, NJ: Known as "America's Original Seaside Resort," this beach town on the Jersey Shore is the prettiest we have ever visited! It's a unique place with its beautiful Victorian homes, gorgeous tree and flower-lined streets, horse-drawn carriages, historical locations, beach, and beach-front promenade. It was a van-friendly area and ideal location for stealth camping in our Ford Transit campervan.

LONGWOOD GARDENS: Located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, about an hour outside of Philadelphia, Longwood Gardens boasts 11,000 varieties of plants spread out across more than 1,000 acres of gardens, meadows, woodlands, small lakes, fountains, and elaborate horticultural displays including my favorite, a beautiful 4-acre conservatory. It was originally founded by Pierre du Pont in 1906 and has since become world renowned for its dedication to botany, design, education and art.

Years before it was a public garden, the land on which Longwood Gardens stands was home to the native Lenni Lenape tribe and Quaker farmers. Since then, the land has undergone significant transformation to become a popular place enjoyed by more than a million guests each year.

Longwood Gardens is open year-round and features special events and performances, seasonal and themed displays and exhibits, as well as educational lectures, courses, and workshops. Some of my favorite exhibits at the Gardens include the Orchid House, waterlily display, bonsai, and the Silver Garden featuring desert plants.

We enjoyed a leisurely evening strolling through the gardens and enjoying our spectacular surroundings and time with our family. We were at Longwood for the Festival of Fountains which features amazing, illuminated water fountain performances on select evenings. We expected a pretty show but were blown away by how beautiful and spectacular the show was - including being wowed by fire in the water! Each night features a different theme and we enjoyed the colorful Monet’s Garden-theme show. What a perfect end to the evening!
