Hello Everyone, we are back with another travel vlog of our road trip to Samsing, Suntalekhola and Rocky Island.
We started our journey from Alipurduar which happens to be my in-laws place.
Samsing is a small village located around 130 kms from Alipurduar. It is known for its beautiful landscape with green tea garden scenery, hills and forests and streams flowing through the rocks.
We started early in the morning and it took us exactly 3 hours to reach there.
We travelled through Falakata, Birpara, Banarhat, Chapramari and reached Kumani. From here if you take right, you would reach Jhalong and Bindu - which we had already explored earlier. We took a left this time to reach Samsing and Suntalekhola.
We had planned to night stay at Rocky Island. It is a new tourist destination in Dooars, situated on the banks of river Murti and is about 2 kms from Samsing.
We had pre-booked Rocky Island Homestay for our stay.
The road condition was average. In the initial part of the journey, since we were cruising on NH 27, we got some good roads although there were some diversions. The later half of the journey had roads which went uphill and downhill and patches which were extremely bad.
Around 1 pm we reached our homestay. The place was having substantial space with separate multiple cottages. Since we were 5 people they had given us one entire cottage with an attic. The cottage was neat & clean with enough space.
This was the 1st time for us to stay in a cottage with an attic.
After freshening up, we had our lunch where they provided rice, daal, papad, begun bhaja, veg sabji with cabbage and egg curry.
After lunch we went to the river side. The river is flowing just beside the homestay, we could hear the sound of the flowing water from the homestay itself. There is a staircase from the homestay to the river bed, we spent quite some time there.
In the afternoon, we had a stroll in the village. It is a small village having few homestays and small shops. Since it is quite an offbeat tourist place and remote, so there was not much to do after sunset and the number of tourists were also very less.
By evening we came back to our homestay and had a chat with the owners, they were very very friendly and hospitable.
For dinner we had rice, daal, alu sabji, papad and chicken curry.
Next morning after having our breakfast and checking out from the homestay, we went towards Suntalekhola. It took us around 15 mins to reach there. The road condition was not at all good. For the last 1 km you cannot take your own vehicle. So we hired a Bolero from the local stand and it charged Rs. 600. Also you have to pay a charge of Rs 20 per person as you will enter the Neora Valley National Park.
Suntalekhola is a small hamlet surrounded by dense forest. The main attraction is the suspension bridge.
Next we went to the Samsing view point. Here you can see the Murti river flowing below with hills at the background. There were small food stalls we had delicious momos. Finally it was time for us to return home.It was a good relaxing 1 night 2 days weekend trip. We returned home feeling refreshed with loads of good memories.
