Violence against women and girls is one of the most prevalent human rights violations in the world. It has neither social no economic or national boundaries. Gender-based violence (GBV) undermines health, dignity, security and autonomy of its victims, yet it remains thrown a cloak of silence around.
In commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism Against GBV, slated for 25 November 2021 to the 10 December 2021. The Competence Center "Gender Justice, Feminism and Transformation", based at Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Mozambique,in coordinated effort with other Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung offices in Africa, is striving for the collective dialogue around issues concerning gender justice. The theme(s) for this year are: Freedom from violence as a public good/ Freedom from violence is essential for a gender just society / Freedom from violence is essential for equal opportunities in life.
In this regard, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Zambia has produced the video below that aims at sending a message that even though GBV is prevalent in Zambia, there are strides being made in combating this and there are community heroes/heroines that are putting in efforts to stop the scourge.
