Two weeks ago, we gathered for the official inception of the UPOPs Project, which is a five-year journey that will play a critical role in strengthening Eswatini’s waste management systems and protecting public health.
The project will be addressing waste sectors such as healthcare waste, e-waste, and plastic waste which are key waste streams that, if not properly managed, contribute to the release of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) into our environment.
This project marks an important step towards advancing a circular economy, and Reducing Persistent Organic Pollutants in our environment.
As we reflect on the workshop, here is the Ministerial address from the Honorable Minister of Tourism & Environmental Affairs, Jane Mkhonta - Simelane.
