The paper towel and wood ashes fire roll is a very finicky technique. One day you will easily get 3 ignitions and then the next several times you try, get none. The only brands of paper towels that I've found will work are Bounty and Kirkland.
So I was out here today practicing cotton and ashes, cotton and tobacco, some micro fire rolls, and these paper towel and ashes fire rolls. I think I've come up with a fairly consistent way to roll them and get ignitions. Come, let me show you.
