Today marks the 67th anniversary of Tibetan Women Uprising Day, a day that commemorates the courageous protest of thousands of Tibetan women in 1959 who stood up against Chinese rule in Tibet.
In this vlog, I visited the protest site in Delhi, where Tibetans and supporters gathered to honor the bravery of those women and to raise awareness about the ongoing struggle for Tibetan rights and freedom. Many Delhites also joined the gathering to show solidarity with the Tibetan community.
You’ll see moments from the protest, powerful slogans, speeches, and the emotions of people who came together to remember history and keep the spirit of resistance alive.
This day is also closely connected with the broader events surrounding the 1959 Tibetan Uprising, when Tibetans rose up against Chinese control and many were forced into exile.
