Episode 19 Title: “Go a Little Further”. Scripture: Matthew 26:39; Luke 9:23. Live Bible Study – Be Encouraged by Jesus Christ Through Minister Timothy Thomas.
In this heartfelt episode, Minister Timothy Thomas teaches on the call of God for every believer to go a little further. The message begins with Matthew 26:39, where Jesus, in the Garden of Gethsemane, went a little further, fell on His face, and prayed:
“O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.”
Jesus shows us that when the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, the answer is not quitting—it is prayer. Sometimes we reach the end of our strength, the end of our ideas, the end of our emotional capacity. And when we have gone as far as we know to go, we must do what Jesus did: fall on our face and pray, knowing that God controls the situation.
Minister Thomas speaks directly to the heart:
“I don’t know who I’m talking to, but God is saying, Go a little further. Whether it’s your marriage, your health, your finances, your friendships, your self‑esteem, or your battle with depression—when you have gone as far as you can, fall on your face and pray.”
Why pray? Because prayer reveals the will and mind of God. And nothing can defeat the will and mind of God.
When you are divinely exhausted, pray. When you don’t understand, pray. When the cup is bitter, pray. Jesus prayed, “Oh My Father…” and so must we.
Minister Thomas challenges us with a question:
How far will you go?
Luke 9:23 tells us that we must deny ourselves daily, take up our cross, and follow Him. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by Me.”
So will you tell life’s problems, “Excuse me—I have to follow Jesus”?
This episode reminds us that the key to following Jesus is prayer. Prayer strengthens the spirit. Prayer subdues the flesh. Prayer aligns us with God’s will. Prayer gives us the mind of Christ.
Therefore, let this mind be in you through prayer as the spirit battles against the flesh.
Go a little further.
Fall on your face.
Pray—and watch God move.
