Simple Garlic Naan Recipe
Serves 4 people
INGREDIENTS:

1½ cups self-raising flour (or 1½ cups all-purpose flour + 1½ tsp baking powder)
Extra flour, for dusting and as needed for the dough
½ tsp salt
¾ cup Greek yoghurt (or plain unsweetened yoghurt)
1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
GARLIC BUTTER:

2 tbsp butter or ghee (30g / US: 1/4 stick)
Handful of fresh coriander (US: cilantro)
2 garlic cloves
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT:

Cling wrap
Clean work surface or rolling board
Rolling pin
Stainless steel pan or Cast iron pan
Pastry brush

00:10 PREPARE THE DOUGH
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, yoghurt, and extra virgin olive oil. Mix until it forms a soft ball of dough. If the dough feels very sticky, add a little more flour. The dough should hold together without sticking to your hands, but still remain slightly damp. Once it has the right consistency, cover the bowl with cling wrap or a clean kitchen towel and leave the dough in a warm place for 10 minutes.

While the dough is resting, crush the garlic and finely chop the coriander (cilantro). In a small bowl, melt the butter and mix in the garlic and coriander. Set aside.
02:01 ROLL OUT THE NAANS
After 10 minutes, remove the cling wrap and place the dough on a flat work surface (such as a wooden board or clean marble countertop). Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball. Set them aside.
Dust the work surface lightly with flour. Take one dough ball, sprinkle with a little flour, and roll it out into an oval shape. Flip it halfway through rolling, ensuring both sides stay lightly floured. Continue rolling until the dough is about 0.4 cm (0.16") thick and approximately 25 cm (10") long. Set aside and repeat with the remaining portions.
03:22 COOK THE NAANS
Preheat a large stainless steel or cast iron pan over medium heat. When the pan is hot, place one naan in the pan and cook undisturbed for 3 minutes. You can press lightly with a spatula to flatten any rising bubbles. Flip and cook for another 3 minutes. Once cooked, transfer the naan to a plate.
03:57 ADD THE GARLIC BUTTER
While the naan is still hot, brush it with some of the garlic butter.
Cook the remaining naans and brush each with garlic butter, repeating the same process.

Serve warm with your favourite Indian curry (such as butter chicken or dal), dips like hummus or raita, or grilled meats.
