In this episode, I’m taking you behind the scenes of our small coffee shop as we recover from the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene. Our town of Harlem, Georgia, was hit hard, forcing us to close the shop for nearly 10 days—a major setback for any small business. When we finally reopened with a limited menu, the support from our community was overwhelming and heartwarming. Each familiar face reminded us why we do what we do, and we realized just how important this “third space” is for our neighbors. From hosting character visits to lift the kids’ spirits to organizing a canned food drive for our local pantry, we found ways to come together and bring a bit of comfort and hope back to our town.
This video also dives into my personal journey through the fatigue and exhaustion of rebuilding, both for the shop and myself. There’s a new sense of purpose that comes from facing challenges with resilience and a commitment to serve others, one cup at a time. We partnered with local businesses, like a board game company, to create events that help restore a sense of normal and remind us all of the power of community. Join me in this journey of recovery, gratitude, and rediscovering what it means to be part of something bigger than coffee—it’s about making Harlem a place where everyone feels at home.
