A black and yellow garden spider wraps up a small grasshopper caught in her web.
Sensing the movement, she races down to the trapped insect and uses her silk, nature’s saran wrap, to package the morsel for later eating just like mom used to do when preparing your lunch. Watch her give it a venomous bite before heading back up to await another visitor. The silk is made of protein – it is stronger by weight than any man-made material. Yet, the spider can recycle it simply by eating and re-spinning it.
