Point Reyes National Seashore - Inverness, California (2019)

Описание: Point Reyes National Seashore is located in Marin County about 30 miles North West of San Francisco, in Inverness, California. Point Reyes offers many opportunities to see wildlife, such as sea birds, elephant seals and whales. There is a ton of historical offerings at the park at well, such as the Light house built in 1870 and the historic life boat station at the Chimney Rock Trail head. Chimney Rock is where our hike begins. After driving an hour from the Bear Valley Visitors Center, through a beautiful landscape of rolling golden hills and farms that meet the coast, you are present with two hiking options. Chimney Rock Trail is a 2 mile hike out and back. This hike offers views of the raw beauty of nature in a coastal landscape. Huge cliffs tower above sandy beaches that disappear into turquoise water and kelp forests. Be careful on the cliffs, erosion makes them unstable and dangerous to walk on, especially near the edge. The next option for hiking is short and sweet, elephant seal overlook. It's only about a half of a mile round trip. The Trail walks along the coastal cliffs and ends in a viewing area resembling a boardwalk. We took this trip at the beginning of August and there were plenty of elephant seals on the beach and swimming in the ocean beneath the overlook. We could have watched the elephant seals all day. They love to fight and make strange noises. Overall Point Reyes National Seashore was worth the drive and the hiking in the misty fog. Even though the hikes we have outlined in this video are short, they provide a lot of beachy bang for your hiking buck. If you are traveling the California Coast D’n’A Ventures highly recommends Point Reyes National Seashore for extended stays as well as, day trips.
