Bassett Loake's first 15 inch gauge locomotive designed by Henry greenly and built in 1905, Little Giant was tested at the Eaton Hall Railway.
Miniature Railways of Great Britain later Narrow Gauge Railways Limited commissioned Little Giant in 1904. It ran on the south shore in Blackpool before moving to other railways in the north of England.
In 1963 she was purchased in a derelict state by Tom Tate who had her restored to working order.
Bassett-Lowke built their locomotives to order and Little Giant cost £323 when new, more than £36,000 today. She could pull loads of 12 tonnes. During her life Little Giant had a number of names including Little Elephant, Baby Bunce and Robin Hood.
She is currently housed in the museum at the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway.
