A visit to Loudoun hill in east Ayrshire. It was a visit I had meant to do many times over the years but life got in the way.
The hill has its place in Scottish history and the main one being it was where Robert the Bruce and the Scottish army fought a battle against Aymer de Valance, the top man of England's King Edward and his army.
This battle, in the Scottish Wars of Independence took place on 10th May 1307. Bruce and the Scots were victorious and would not lose a battle after Loudoun hill.
BUT the may part of this video is some walkers I had met and especially two young lads who arrived to climb the hill with climbing gear aplenty. Thankfully I did ask if I could take photos and also drone videos of their climb.
This video is it.
Loudon cart park is a great place to park overnight , so I had a lovely couple of days, watched a lovely sunset, chatted to a lovely couple in Robbie and Caroline of CrookedHolm, and to Jessie Cairns too with her dugs, who I chatted to for a while. Everyone was so friendly.
Enjoy the video. The two climbers dont appear really till 15:50 in the video but if you haven't been to Loudoun hill before then this video is full of info on track, directions...oh and a fair bit of history.
