Why Most Freedivers Shouldn’t Copy the Pros

Just because elite freedivers like Alexey Molchanov or William Trubridge do it doesn’t mean you should.
In this video, I break down three common training methods that I often see recreational freedivers and spearos copying — but that can actually slow down your progress or add unnecessary risk if you’re not at an advanced level:
1. O2 tables to maximum hypoxia
2. Nose clips before they’re useful
3. Packing before you’ve mastered the basics
These techniques can make sense for someone diving past 300 or 400 feet. But if you’re diving 130 feet or less, there are far more important things to focus on — like breath-hold relaxation, technique, body position, and streamlining.
If you want a safe, proven, step-by-step training plan designed for your level, check out my six-week freediving program. You can do it from home, and I’ll guide you through exactly what to do each week.
